Wells for India is a not-for-profit organisation specialising in sustainable water. Last year we worked in 186 villages and with 165,700 people in rural Rajasthan. Since 1987, we have supported work in some of the poorest rural communities in the drylands of India. Here, water is the key to enabling people to improve their lives, their life-chances, and their environment. Over the years, we have extended our expertise beyond the provision of wells, to rainwater harvesting, natural resource management, and sanitation. We encourage the revival of traditional water management wisdom combined with up-to-date scientific and technological innovation. We have learned that for sustainable change to take place, water resources need to be accessible, reliable, of sufficient quality, used efficiently, distributed equitably, and managed and maintained at community level.
