Animal Husbandry

Animal Husbandry

Farm animals - particularly Sheep, Goats and Cattle are the main livelihood for many villagers in rural Rajasthan. Wells for India supports the improvement of water supplies and the development of livestock through training sessions and veterinary camps.

Goats

Goats provide valuable milk. However often nomadic tribesmen with flocks of goats can do much damage to trees and crops.

Cattle Camps

In times of drought Wells for India supports emergency cattle camps where villagers can leave their cattle where fodder is provided. Often the only alternative is to let the animals loose in the desert to fend for themselves.

Veterinary Camps

Camps are set up to give training in animal husbandry and cattle immunisation.

Improved Stock

Support is given to improve livestock breeding.
