Our trustees
Dr. Nicholas Grey: founder of Wells for India. He has a doctorate in chemistry and worked with ICI for more than 20 years in research and production in various technical and management functions. He then set up a PYO farm and nursery. Since founding Wells for India in 1987, he has been to Rajasthan every year to interact with the villagers and plan work with the partners. He has visited more than 400 villages where Wells for India has worked over the years.
Professor Mary Grey: founder of Wells for India, a theologian and writer. She has travelled to Rajasthan each year since 1991 and has a special interest in the lives of the women. She has written books on caste, including "A Cry for Dignity - Religion, Violence and the Struggle of Dalit Women in India" published in October 2010.
Dr. Max Wilson: has a doctorate in metallurgy. He held senior management positions in large companies in the UK and overseas, but now specialises in helping small high-tech companies to grow. He is currently a director of ionscope Ltd, a spin-out from Imperial College and the University of Cambridge, in addition to working with a number of not-for-profit organisations. He is currently Chairman of trustees.
Professor Mike Edmunds: is a hydrogeologist and an expert in water quality who has worked widely in the UK and in arid and semi-arid regions around the world. He is Visiting Professor in the School of Geography at the University of Oxford, and Research Director at the Oxford Centre for Water Research, teaching on its MSc course in Water Science, Policy and Management.
Reverend Jean Boulton-Reynolds: has visited Rajasthan several times over the past few years, most recently spending a sabbatical period with two of our local partner organisations.
Reverend Helen Griffiss: Incumbent of the parish of All Saints Mudeford, Dorset. Helen has visited India. In January 1999 she fulfilled an ordination placement for the Southern Theological Education and Training Scheme in Rajasthan. She has a special interest in the importance of water and the role of women in the poorest desert communities.
Peter McManus: after more than 40 years in the computer industry, Peter is now a trustee of several charities, including Wells for India, and LSO St Luke's. He was IBM Europe Development Director (Entry Systems), and recently Chair of Churches Together in Winchester.
Emily Snowden: has a BA in Philosophy and an MA in Human rights and international politics. She has worked with Oxfam, Amnesty International, HelpAge and Merlin.
Dr. Kevin Cook: Lecturer in Geography at the University of Northampton with a special interest in development issues. His research projects include: the role of women in community development in Kenya; and sand dams. He has been a supporter of Wells for India since the beginning.
